Bookcases

I love bookcases, because I love books and objects. When I first moved to Bushwick, Brooklyn, one whole wall of our loft was a bookcase. There is nothing greater than a piece of furniture that displays your collection of books and objects.

A friend showed me an interesting style of bookshelves - a custom bracket and standard - that he told me was an Eastern European invention for moving in a hurry. As it turned out, several friends in Brooklyn were interested in having these on their walls. We called them Hungarian Bookshelves and I tried them with white oak and painted ply and untreated pine.

There is also a built-in I did for some new friends to fit into and feature the settling of their 100 year old Greenpoint apartment.

And one giant “bookcase” (actually a display case) for a Madewell store I made working for Heywood Productions - a really nice bunch of people with a small set-shop.
