Faux Fireplace

A friend of a friend contacted me about building a faux fireplace in his rather tight Long Island City Apartment. He had a length of walnut butcher block that he wanted to feature as a mantel and a number of entertainment components he wanted to integrate into the “chimney.” It was a fun challenge. I figured out the construction and the field stones to clad it in and found a granite slab offcut to use as a hearthstone. Michael McHale was very pleased and so was I.
